Weekends

Shit happens on the weekends.

Impulse Club on Thursday was crazy! When people wait outside in a line half way around the building, they’re generally in rage mode as soon as they get in. Friday night, my roommate Kevin and I went out searching for a party our friends could crash. I still had my stuff in the van from Thursday. We found a house with a mild vibe playing some MIA, asked if anyone wanted to dance, and made that little living room and the hundred people inside it jump until the cops came. Effing Ridiculous. Finally, last night my friend/prodigy Lassi threw a set so hard my cousin couldn’t walk today. All that Four Loco. Come party this weekend!

On those Friday nights, when people start filling up your house, you put on that first song. You start with that first song that you just think is the raddest, most ill fucking song in existance. You put it on first, and while the song might not be your favorite for more than a day or two, at that exact moment in time it is. It triggers something in your brain. A smile creeps up on your face. Your pupils dialate ever so slightly. You turn around to your house or appartment, and look at your best friends gathering for a great night, and you think, “Fuck…yes…”

At some point during college, each of these songs had their time. I’ve played ‘em out a bit. They’re used. Abused. But still so awesome.

(except for the Miley Cirus / B.I.G. mashup…I just find that one hilarious)
